As the name suggests, this pie originated in North Carolina. It’s easy to make, rich, and decadent! Has a brownie-like texture in a pie crust. This delicious dessert is perfect for the holiday season, and it never lasts long at a tailgate either. No mixer needed for this easy pie, and it’s perfect topped with whipped topping or ice cream.

SWAPS & ADDITIONS

You can substitute the pecans with walnuts. Can substitute 1/4 cup peanut butter for the coconut or sub another 1/4 cup chocolate chips for the coconut.

⭐TIP

We baked this pie for 40 minutes and it turned out with a brownie-like texture. Some folks prefer theirs a little less done for a gooier center, so just test the middle and bake it to your desired level of gooeyness.

• 1 deep dish pie shell
• 1/2 cup butter melted
• 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips divided
• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
• 2 eggs beaten
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup pecans chopped
• 1/2 cup flaked coconut

• Melt butter in microwave and pour over 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips and stir until smooth.

• In a bowl whisk together the flour and both the white and brown sugar. Pour in the melted chocolate chips. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Stir to mix.

• Add chopped pecans, coconut and the rest of the chocolate chips.

• Pour into uncooked pie shell. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Do not overcook. Pie is best if a little undercooked.
