The Monster Mash
Deadline reports an animated film based on Bobby “Boris” Pickett’s 1962 song, “The Monster Mash”, is now in development at Miramax. No further details are currently available, including as to how one could possibly turn “The Monster Mash” into a film.
The Mouth of the Furnace
Deadline also has word J.R. Ramirez and Emilio Del Real will star in The Mouth of the Furnace, a horror-fantasy film from Felipe Vargas (Rosario) described as “a reimagining of one of Colombia’s most popular folktales.” The story centers on “a lonely prospector’s son who discovers a shadowy creature that offers a tempting—but deadly—way out of his impoverished town.”
Claws
According to Deadline, Thomas Middleditch, Jess Weixler, Presley Alexander, Sydney Cole Alexander, Kirk Fox, Saagar Shaikh, Laura Cayouette, Ned Bellamy, Anthony Joo, Teagan Meredith, Cruz, and Logan Taylor will star in Claws, a “haunted fairytale for the whole family” from the Adams Brothers. The story follows “a loving couple who make a deadly mistake when they invite their closest friends and family to a birthday celebration—honoring the strange, feral girl they discovered in their basement.”
The Carpenter’s Son
Bloody-Disgusting has three new images from the Jesus Christ horror movie starring Nicolas Cage, Noah Jupe, and FKA Twigs.



Subjugation
We also have a teaser for Subjugation, a sci-fi horror film described as “The Crow meets Wicked City” boasting “all-practical effects.”
The Future Is Ours
Deadline reports an eight-part limited series based on Philip K. Dick’s The World Jones Made is now in development at Netflix from The Eternaut producers K&S Films. Set in South America in 2047, the synopsis states, “Ecological collapse has led to the creation of FedSur, a coalition of South American countries that applies extreme measures to protect nature and counteract social unrest. A new voice then emerges that can predict the future. Police officer Hugo Crussí discovers that behind the voice is a young preacher named Jonás Flores, who goes on to become a popular spiritual leader. Crussí, meanwhile, finds himself part of the resistance and is pursued accordingly.” Emiliano Zurita, Delfina Chaves, Enzo Vogrincic, Marleyda Soto, Marco Antonio Caponi will star in the project, while Mateo Gil is said to serve as showrunner. Vicente Amorim, Daniel Rezende, and Jesús Braceras are attached to direct.
Star Wars: Visions
Finally, Lucasfilm has released a series of Filmmaker Focus shorts looking at some of the returning narratives “The Duel: Payback” and “The Lost Ones”.
